I honestly like Aurora for the diversity of people
and services; it’s a diversity that may soon start disappearing due to
increased wealth in Seattle and a stratification of classes. It’s a mix of light industrial, everyday
services, and the American Dream.
Rents are less expensive here, so yeah, it’s possible to
open your version of the American Dream, whether it’s a pho cafe or a
plumbing shop.
So we end up with car parts dealerships and Korean BBQ
restaurants, hourly motels and holy megachurches, Alcoholic Anonymous hangouts and Eagles Club bingo. Dollar stores and dance studios. Thrift shops and
donuts and florists and a store that sells only purple stuff. I mean, only
purple stuff.
Aurora isn’t just just strippers and strip malls. But yes,
it is also that.
